Former Library and Technical Institute
September 14 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Work is ongoing on this fabulous building. Opened in 1904 as a Technical Institute, Art School and college, the building has some fine examples of Terracotta figures, designed by Mart Masters Gibbons and Oaken. Inside are tiles donated by the famous Gibbons and Hinton tile factory and admirable stained glass. The outside of the building is being renovated as part of the council’s Heritage Action Zone project, funded by Historic England. Inside work is being done to convert the building to residential uses. This is a super opportunity to visit the building part way through the conversion.
