Heritage Open Week: Graves at Night – Tue 15th, Wed 16th, Thu 17th September

September 15 @ 7:50 pm - September 17 @ 9:30 pm
Free

As dusk falls, step into the shadows of St Michael’s Churchyard and uncover the fascinating lives behind the headstones.

This atmospheric guided walk brings Brierley Hill’s history vividly to life through carefully researched stories of ordinary people who lived extraordinary lives. Hear about war heroes, industrial pioneers, tragic losses and curious mysteries, all shared with warmth, knowledge and humour in true Brierley Hill fashion.

Subtle lighting transforms the peaceful churchyard as darkness gathers, creating a memorable setting in which voices from the town’s past can be heard once again. More than a tour of graves, this is an evening of storytelling that reveals the people, events and personal histories woven into Brierley Hill’s heritage.

Graves at Night has become a firm favourite within the town’s Heritage Open Day programme. Previous visitors have described it as “informative and moving”, praised the “wonderful weaving of stories and histories” and said that the lighting of the graves added greatly to the experience.

Perfect for anyone interested in genealogy, social history, local characters or simply hearing a good story told well.

Walks begin at 7.45pm on Tuesday 15th, Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th September. Places are free but limited to 25 people per walk.
